Publisher: Storytelling Collective
A collection of poems by emerging poets from around the world
April is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.
— Opening stanza of The Waste Land by T. S. Eliot
Once a year, poets from around the world participate in a creative challenge called “April Daily Poem,” in which — you guessed it — participants are encouraged to write a poem every day for the duration of the challenge. Poets are given simple prompts to guide and inspire their writing.
In the United States, April is National Poetry Month, so although the Storytelling Collective community spans the globe, this creative challenge is our way of celebrating the art of poetry.
Poetry is a powerful medium that requires poets to think critically about word usage and format to convey abstract ideas, emotions, and stories. Readers will be entertained, challenged, and moved by the range of poems and voices in this collection.
