Gametouch Controller Star Citizen

Gametouch Controller Star Citizen

I have been looking for a new tablet controller for Star Citizen and Gametouch Controller seems to be perfect.

Over the years I have tried almost all of them, Game glass, Touch portal, Hardware solutions like the Elgato Stream deck and so many others.

Gametouch Controller seems to have got it almost perfect and are working on improvements and upgrades, it also supports more than one device but you only have to pay one low purchase.

It gets even better as the developer Grant Draper  is a Star Citizen fan and even learned to program to create this solution.

I am sold it excellent, simple to setup and customise and most importantly it works very fast as a the Server software runs on your local pc so no nasty cloud services.

 Here is the feature reel.

Community Feedback. – I need to update this, there has been so much positive feedback.

“I was a bit skeptical, but trust me, Game Touch Controller is sick. Seriously. Not even sponsored or anything. I just set it up and it’s genuinely miles ahead of GameGlass for real-world functionality. ” – XeroState

“If you play Star Citizen without GTC, you’re missing out! Go download it ASAP! Seriously!” – NeoFox

“When you’re a #StarCitizen Criminal like me & always running for your life… GTc is my savior! , I can auto-run to bunkers! There’s many other features so check it out for yourself!” – 6lasphemous

“Autoconnection with my android was rapid and honestly that is a real cool app for SC.”

“This is way better than -Something Else-“ changed from specifics to -Something Else- by developer-“

“I tested the app for the first time on my iPad. It worked great. I really like it. “

“your app is sooooo much more responsive.”

“One cool bonus as an IT Guy: it’s all local. No cloud reliance. No data levels the network. Just your tablet(s) and your PC.

Works wonderfully and is woefully undervalued”

“Such an amazing app love using it in my gameplay. Only had it q couple days but it changes the experience 100 fold.”

“As a user of this app– it reallllly adds to immersion on top of making quick access to constantly used features. Love it! “

“This is pretty much beyond what I expected, already have org mates using it regularly. Canceled my -edited by developer- subscription and damn happy I did. “

Back Story: Approximately 18 Months ago, I was looking for touch screen peripheral software like this to help with Star Citizen controls while maintaining the immersion. I only found one product that came remotely close.

After investigating the monetization and network architecture for aforementioned product, I made comment on a forum about how I felt there were, in my opinion a lot of poor design choices from a usability, responsiveness and privacy perspective.

I received a typical “Forum Discussion” response to the effect of “well you go make one if you think you can do better, or stop complaining”

So I spent a year learning to program a cross platform language, engaged with the community and as a sole developer created what you see here. GameTouch Controller – By a Gamer for Gamers. This project was initially just going to be for me to use, but the community encouraged me to sell it to them.

I learned how to compile for each platform, the requirements for each of the App stores. I then engaged with some excellent Star Citizen Facebook communities, provided free beta access and they have, and continue to, aid in releasing this product for a small fee to the community.

I’m just a small independent developer, I don’t have a big marketing budget or investment capital, so community feedback and engagement are extremely important for me. Word of mouth is my only real “advertising”.

My guiding principles creating this project are: usability, no ads, no subscriptions, no additional accounts, no collection of user data, and responsiveness.

A common FAQ I receive is:

Q. Why would we pay the $3-$5 one time when we can use another product for free, what does your product do theirs does not ?.

A. Here are just some of the cases.

1. Because GameTouch Controller operates purely on your LAN and has no lag.

2. You don’t need to make another account with yet another company.

3. It never disconnects or requires authentication with an external source (you can use it just fine while disconnected from the internet)

4. You can use as many devices as you want per platform purchase for no additional cost. (connect 50 iPads if you like, still only costs you the one time $3-$5 depending on region. Get it on Android (Amazon or Google) for $3-$5 and connect another 50 Android devices. The Windows client is free and just uses an android/iOS device on your network to authenticate.

5. You get access to analogue inputs via Virtual Joysticks.

6. Nothing is free, there is a saying which I have found to hold true in almost all cases. If you aren’t buying the product YOU ARE THE PRODUCT.

Lets have a quick comparison of the GameTouch Controller privacy policy compared to snippets from a similar product you likely never read.

Garden Interstellar initiative – Space Tomato Gaming

The Space Tomato and my experience of the trip to the moons of Star Citizen,

First some back story:

I have been a long term backer of Star Citizen and through its growing pains have fallen in and out of love with the project, ( Star Citizen is in Alpha!).

Through this time I have still retained my enthusiasm for the idea, could the dream come true, could I find myself actually playing in the verse Chris Roberts envisioned.

I often watch people, promoters, influencers on YouTube pushing their agenda and well aware that producing interesting content takes time and money and much like Star Citizen the bigger you get the more time it takes and money and that can make people lose track of what inspired them in the first place.

So i Stumbled onto the Space Tomato YouTube group and was frankly very surprised to find this really interesting review of the game, the more I looked the more I found really well produced content,  informative and no bias.

So after a while I thought have they got an organisation, Star Citizen has orgs and yes they did, an informative chat tok place with @LordSkippy on discord ensuring I was not a pirate and my application was put forward.

About 24 hours later I was invited to the discord channel and noticed an event which coincidentally had the Big Tomato himself live streaming the event.

II signed up, now for someone who has had a life in Business and experienced all sorts of stress. I was actually worried, not about the live stream but actually getting to grips with a game I know but had played infrequently.

I thought to myself if I allow an hour to transit through space I will be fine, 45 minutes later I’m stuck in space with no fuel and thinking what now.

I was not sure which channel to join in discord and asked I was kindly pointed to the the correct area in Discord and almost immediately after saying hello, @Dutchman Ace said he would pick me up, I suppose in hindsight I could have sat in my ship and waited and EVA, yes you can EVA over to the rescue ship, but decided to self destruct.

A while later I was collected from a remote space station and we started on our journey to the moons.

Sadly due to my mistake we missed the departure but @Dutchman Ace soon caught up with the group,

The group was simply great and even the Space Tomato himself needed rescuing, as for the scenery e.g. the moons simply outstanding as was the schedule and commentary,

There was even a snack shop and I enjoyed an apple of two while watching everyone look around the ships and then almost disaster when one of the ships started moving.it was windy, luckily some one was on board.

The tour ended and Space tomato said goodbye and some free flying through a canyon occurred, sadly I think my microphone had failed by then but some of the best fun I have had in the game.

If you’re looking for a friendly group that are helpful and knowledgeable  please look them up.

Fantasy Grounds your home for RPG now and for the future

The world has changed and so much that we have taken for granted has changed, its like a role playing story come to life and our thoughts go out to everyone effected.

I have been a keen role player in the past and overtime lost contact with many of the people I played with, so many hours of fun company and imaginative gaming, from the fanatical DM and his models through to the controlling player who ruined the game it was all fun in one way or another.

As the years passed other matters became more important peoples lives changed and we lost contact, my sons kept an interest and I slowly started looking at a selection of board games trying to spark my interest again and in some ways it worked as the generally simple gameplay made me to start to use my imagination to play again and this slowly moved me towards thinking about RPG and taking part again.

I will freely admit I am no spring chicken anymore so the thought of sitting at a table with a group munching snacks drinking fizzy pop or beer was appealing but the reality of so many hours often perched on a stool didn’t appeal to me let alone a bunch of strangers roiling up at my house, so the idea was a problem as I needed more than just one player.

I then had the fortune to stumble across a player, a DM called DoomHippy, he had a radical approach to gaming and his style was factual and players beware could be expletive, we started to talk and he explained he had been using a few online platforms to try and encourage people to play, he had invested in several platforms however they suffered from issues with content creation were often expensive and were policed by trolls who had tried to alter his ideas and subsequently caused unfairly his services to be suspended, I thought to myself this needs further investigation.

After a bit of digging I could see that the sites discussed had issues, not least the inability to create really interesting content but some real issues with users, we managed to have a few games on the systems but they were not very good.

With a background in a mixture of vocations I started to think I can build something better and before I commenced I stumbled on Fantasy grounds.

So I need to be transparent, is this an advert, yes and no, yes it is an advert in respect to a well thought through comprehensive RPG service but no as our only benefit is to tell you how much we love it, Fantasy grounds doesn’t have affiliate links and certainly doesn’t sponsor anyone.

The reality:

The reality is often different than expectations and swapping from a physical environment to a PC, Mac or Linux based system may seem daunting and with all things new there is a learning curve, a good DM can help and the system has lots of games run by enthusiastic DMs who often run beginners games, a couple of sessions and you start to realize this is really good.

I am not going to bombard you with images as we are going to post some play through videos in the near future, but lets just say if the DM is smart ours is you can integrate modules often purchasable with expansions and sometimes free to make the mundane parts of the game a fun experience, I am certainly no expert yet but seeing hit points being deducted automatically and being able to search and access data in game is so cool.

So where going to create some more content a page for this service a quick reference guide and I encourage you as you must have an interest if you found this article to sign up, the basic tier is free as a demo but if the DM has the ultimate pack you can actually play free, the assumption being this is the type of game they are running.

On the flip side the amount for a membership isn’t that much so you may wish to support the product creator and join if you would like to learn more have a look at the development history.
